After earning his medical degree at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Germany, Dr. Musahl moved to the United States, where he completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh, and a fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery Sports Medicine and Shoulder in New York City. In addition to his work as a University of Pittsburgh Associate Professor and a leading Orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Musahl is also co-head team physician for the University of Pittsburgh football team, and team physician for Carlow University and Mt. Lebanon High School.
His research interests include knee and shoulder biomechanics. Dr. Musahl specializes in Sports Medicine; he provides comprehensive care of injuries to the knee, shoulder, elbow, hip and ankle. Currently, Dr. Musahl is Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Associate Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering, Program Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship, and Medical Director at the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine.
