Associate Professor Sumit Raniga is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a subspecialist orthopaedic shoulder and elbow surgeon with three years of dedicated clinical and research fellowships in world renowned centres of excellence. Mentored by preeminent Professors’ Matthias Zumstein (Bern, Switzerland), George Athwal (Ontario, Canada) Graham King (Ontario Canada), and Des Bokor (Sydney, Australia). He is the first and only Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons to be awarded the prestigious Charles S. Neer Award for research in the field of shoulder surgery by the American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES) in 2016. Associate Professor Raniga is an academic orthopaedic surgeon with background in molecular medicine and biomechanics. He has established and directs the MQ Health Translational Shoulder Research Program. He leads a multidisciplinary team that enables an intensive collaboration between surgeons, radiologists, physiotherapists, biomechanical engineers, and industry to improve patient outcomes through translational orthopaedic research.
